Free as a Bird

I received all the pieces for this design but did not have the Peach Stamp set to go with the Life is a Peach DSP so I stamped the background with my Free as a Bird stamps.

My First Canucks Cap!

Welcome again to our monthly West Coast Creator Blog Hop!  Our theme this month is mens cards since we are so close to Father's Day.  I hope you enjoy all the wonderful ideas and cards made by everyone on the team.

I decided to use the Hats Off Bundle and have been wanting to try and make a Canucks cap.   I looked online to get ideas and colours and I chose Night of Navy and Granny Apple Green.   I couldn't make the orca so I opted to make the hockey stick.
I stamped the outline of the hat in black and then used the dies to cut out the hat in Night of Navy.
I stamped the end piece on a piece of white and fussy cut it to insert at the end.  I die cut the Granny Apple Green and put the navy piece on top.   I cut the hockey stick out of a corner of Basic White.
This is the card in full.   It is a special fold that is unique but quite easy to make.   I cut a piece of Night of Navy 11" by 8 1/2" and folded it in half.  Then you need to place it in your trimmer and score it like the picture below.
When you score it like this you can burnish the fold and get the card to sit up as it does in the first picture.    It also sits flat so you can mail it.
I used the Designer Series Paper from the Well Suited Designer Series Paper which is soon to retire.   I may have to get another package as I am using it a lot.

New Shimmery Vellum

I needed to make a card for a challenge for my team that used vellum, ribbon, and foil paper.   I made the card on the right for that challenge using copper foil paper and Evening Evergreen Vellum.   If you emboss the vellum you can get two effects.

If you put the shimmery side up - it stays shimmery.   If you use the other side you get this lovely white flowery effect that is really lovely.   The foil didn't really show up so I cut up a piece of  of Calypso Coral with the Hand Penned  Dies and that looked lovely on the second card.   This is such a lovely die that looks so lovely on cards.

Planters Galore!

I bought all the products as a suite to make these cards.   I loved the paper, dies and the trellis pieces.

This is the first card I made and I cased it from the catalogue.  I always look to the catalogue for ideas when beginning to make cards with a product new to me.
1.  Cut cardstock 5 1/2 by 8 1/2" Cinnamon Cider.
2.  Cut the DSP  4 1/4" by 5" and cut at an angle.
3.  Cut a piece of basic white with a stitched rectangle.
4.  Cut out the plants in your favourite greens, pot and plant holder and you are done.   Just stamp one plant behind the holder before you glue it down.
Here I used the trellis and glued it onto a piece of the DSP in the suite.  I cut the little planters out of the DSP too.   Don't they look great.  This is another simple card to make.
I used Evening Evergreen for the main cardstock.  I used DSP again for the background.   In these three cards you can see how versatile this paper is.  I cut all the plant pots out of Cajun Craze and cut out the leaves for the small ones from the DSP.   I stamped the leaves in Soft Succulent and cut them out with the dies.   I hope you give this set a try.     It makes lovely cards.

Perfect Weather for Ice Cream

It is quite hot here and although it is only 27 it does feel hotter.    So.... I thought one more ice cream card would be in order.     Chocolate and Strawberry are my favourite and I made a strawberry card as I still had a little Sale-a-bration paper leftover and the strawberry punch is now available again.

I put piece of Real Red behind the strawberry paper and put a piece of Blushing Bride through the Textured Embossing folder to create the background.   I just punched the pieces for the ice cream from the Designer Series Paper which is only available for this month and then will be gone.    This card makes me feel like a drive to Dairy Queen!

We all scream for Ice Cream!

There is nothing my grandchildren love to eat  more than ice cream - well....maybe chocolate!    The Ice Cream Corner Suite from Stampin' Up has everything you need to make a large variety of cards.    You can make simple ones and there are even sprinkles which are great for shaker cards.

I made this card first because fudgesicles and creamsicles are my favourite.  I stamped them  in Soft Suede, Early Expresso, Pumpkin Pie .....and then just cut them out.  I used my blending brushes to make a Pale Papaya background and also used Pale Papaya ribbon and cardstock to add a bit of colour to the white card.   I do love the big birthday set in this stamp set.
I made these cards for a card class.   I put numbers on my cards for my customers as they like to choose to make different cards from various sets so this helps it be easy to choose.   Just email me at shandastirk@gmail.com if you are interested in a class.

Inspiring Canopy Dies

These dies are very versatile as you will see by the cards I will post here.   You can use various colours and backgrounds.

I used Soft Suede to cut out the trees and Garden Green for the canopy.   I then stamped some trees and bunnies to fill in the background.   The sentiments are part of this bundle.
I cut these trees from Crumb Cake and the canopy from Old Olive and Pear Pizazz.   I got the idea for this card from Laura Colborn.   I loved the mountains in the background and the pine trees looked neat too!
This was my favourite card with this bundle.  I sponged the background in Evening Evergreen, Soft Succulent, and Pale Papaya at the top.   I cut the trees out of Evening Evergreen and used the canopy dies for bushes and flowers in So Saffron.
