Bumblebee is Retiring!

Welcome to our monthly Blog Hop!
We are focusing on the five retiring Stampin' Up colours for our blog hop this time.   I have chosen Bumblebee because it makes beautiful sunflowers.   Be sure to click on the pictures below to go to everyone's blog to see the marvelous creations of the other members of my team.

Celebrate Sunflowers is a marvelous stamp set which makes pretty sunflowers just by stamping but when you add the die cut sunflower - it makes amazing flowers which I just love.  This set has been put back together as a bundle and you can buy it on sale during the month of March.   I used Bumblebee for the base of the card and also die cut the top of the sunflower with Bumblebee.

I cut a 4" X 5 1/4" piece  of Crumb Cake and embossed it with the Brick and Mortar 3D embossing folder.  I glued a Paper Lattice embellishment for a detailed accent.
I stamped the big and small sunflower on Shimmery White cardstock with Crumb Cake Ink.
The leaves are Old Olive stamped with Crumb Cake.
I coloured the big flower by using a blender pen and dipping it in  Bumblebee reinker.
I then used a blending brush to put a little more Crumbcake in the centre of the sunflower.

I inked up the little sunflower and stamped it once on scrap paper to make the image lighter when I stamped it again on Shimmer White Cardstock.    I stamped the sentiment in Early Expresso to make sure it would stand out.  I  then added the Brushed Brass Butterflies.

Masks

Here are just a few cards made with masks.   I have used masks before but just for background.   When you use these new Butterflies and Flowers Layering Decorative Madks the results are incredible.

I put the softer colour underneath and then brushed a darker colour on top.   The butterflies just look gorgeous don’t you think!!!

WestCoast Creator Blog Hop

It seems a month flies by more quickly these days and here we are at another Blog Hop.   Our team is featuring products from the January to June Catalogue.   You will really enjoy all the cards from my friends on the team so click on their pictures below to go to their blogs!

I have chosen to show off the Designer Series Paper from the New Horizons Suite.  I just love this paper and there are just endless ways to use it with so many stamp sets.   I got the idea for this design from Patty Bennett and she used many pieces from this suite for her card and after I made her card, I branched out to make the two cards which I will feature here.

This is one piece of 6" X 6" of the New Horizon DSP which I have cut into three 2" by 5 1/4" pieces.  You will also need a piece of Basic White 2" by 5 1/4".
The cardstock is Night of Navy and it is a regular size - 5 1/2" by 8 1/2".
I scored at 2 1/8" and 4 1/4".    Basically you just fold your card in half and then fold the front piece back exactly in half.    The two inch pieces then get glued onto the card and you can decorate as you like.  I stamped two sailboats from Sailing Home and fussy cut them because I thought they looked neat on this sheet of DSP.    You can stamp the grass, birds, and sentiment using the On the Horizon stamp set.

I featured this design in my Live which I do every Monday so I thought I would see how it worked with ordinary Designer Series Paper.   I stamped the flowers on the middle piece of DSP and just fussy cut them.   I stamped the bird on the middle piece and then there is no colouring!    This paper and stamp set is free with a $120 purchase so if you purchased the New Horizon Suite and some cardstock  - you could get this paper and stamp set for free.
I thought I would just put Patty Bennett's card here too.   I made this one and used a different sentiment but this card uses a different sheet of the New Horizon DSP and more of the dies from the bundle.  It is a neat design of card which you can see in my cards - very adaptable!

Whitewash Technique

I have really enjoyed learning this technique!  You just stamp your image with Versemark and emboss with White embossing powder.  Put a little dab of craft white reinker on a block and paint in the image with a water painter!  You do need to add a little water on your block and then you can add the white craft ink with your brush until you like it.    This paper is the New Horizons Designer Series Paper and it is absolutely lovely!    I have made just a ton of cards with it.
 You

This card I just cut out a piece of Just Jade and embossed it with white powder.  I put a Soft Succulent behind it using the Scalloped Contour Dies.

I have used the New Horizon DSP here as well and I embossed on Old Olive.
