Sale-a-bration!! Card

Our theme this month for our monthly blog hop is to create a card from a Sale-a-bration product.    I have chosen the Adorable Owls.  Just press the pictures below to see the amazing creations from all the rest of the team to get more great ideas on how to use Sale-a-bration products.

I played with this set for a bit and cased a couple of cards to get my own creative juices flowing.    I had coloured the owls on all the other cards and thought I would like to create a card which did not require colouring.   I looked through my stash and decided if I combined the cute owls with my Grove Dies it just might work.

You could put a coloured owl in these trees but I liked having a simple design and this card was quick to make.    I die cut the trees first out of Soft Suede from a 4 1/4" X 5 1/4" piece.
I glued that down and then stamped the owl in.
I then cut the tree and the two leaves out of Old Olive and stamped right on the tree.
I just happened to have a 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" piece of Crumb Cake which I had previously cut out a deckled rectangle from.    I added it on top and thought voila!
I don't always save those pieces but I think I might from now on as it really added a finish.
I thought it needed a bit of sparkle so I added three In Color Opal Rounds.
It is quite simple with little stamping but the Grove Dies really make a card almost by themselves!

Simple Stamping Challenge

It isn't a really difficult challenge to make a simple card and yet .... I don't find it easy to make simple cards.   We could use any  current products to showcase a simple design - no dies, or embossing - just ink and paper but we could add either one add on of an embellishment or ribbon.    I can hardly wait to see all the creations my fellow team mates have made.

I used the stamp set Trees For Sale.  It is a two step stamping set.  You stamp the solid image and then stamp the more solid branch image on top of that.
1.  The card on the bottom is 8 1/2 by 5 1/2".
2.  I cut a second piece 4" by 5 1/4".
3.  I stamped the larger trees first in Soft Succulent.   I stamped the smaller trees in Evening Evergreen.  I stamped on the ink pad, then on a paper before I stamped onto my card which makes for a lighter image.
4.   I ripped the top off a 2" by 5 1/4" to make the snow hill I place underneath.
5.  I stamped the sentiment on the top in Evening Evergreen.

I then thought I would try the same card with the same colours only this time I did not stamp off on paper  first and so everything is darker.   I decided on this card I would add three sequins from the Adhesive-Backed Seasonal Sequins from the mini catty.

Christmas Blog Hop

I look forward to seeing what my team members create for these blog hops.  Christmas is one of my favourite times of the year and I love making Christmas cards to give to my friends and family. I am sure you do too.  You will find lots of inspiration on our blog hop.  Just click on the pictures below to see the rest of the beautiful cards on this hop.

This is one of my favourite sets which was carried over from last year.   There is a lovely embossing folder in this set but for this card I used mainly the stamp set and some of the dies.
1.  The card is 8 1/2 by 11.
2.  The Real Red piece is 3 3/4" by 5".
3.  The white piece is 3 1/2 by 4 3/4".
4.   I stamped the flowers in Real Red and the leaves in Garden Green.
5.  I die cut them all plus the little red flowers.  It took awhile but when you put this card together - it is so pretty!!  Here is a close up of the flowers.  Don't you just love all the detail in this stamp set?

West Coast Colour Blog Hop

This is time for our monthly Blog Hop and this time we have a colour challenge.   I don't know about you but I am really looking forward to seeing everyone's creations!!   Just click on the pictures below to see everyone's creations.
This was a real challenge to put these colours together in a card.   I had a new technique I wanted to try  so I put the two things together and came up with this card.   I had been wanting to try some cards with the Aspen Tree Dies and had seen a technique using Shimmery White Embossing Paste. I made a stencil with the largest tree die.

This is the stencil I made and I placed it on a Very Vanilla piece of cardstock the same size - 3 3/4" by 5 1/4".    I put a drop of Blackberry Bliss Reinker into approximately 1 tablespoon of Shimmery White Embossing Paste.   I put the stencil you see above and placed it on another piece and spread the paste all over.   I covered the stencil as well as the piece underneath.   I used the stencil as part of the card after everything had dried.

What you see on the top layer is what the stencil  left.   Isn't it pretty?  I then added a Cajun Craze leaf along with the Blackberry Bliss.  I stamped the branch, the bird and the sentiment with Momento Ink which is my black in the card.    I am trying some other cards with this stamp set and paste.   It is really fun to work with.

Watercolour Technique

It is amazing what a little watercolour will do on an embossed paper!   Just look at this!!
I watercoloured the big flowers with Calypso Coral and the smaller flowers with So Saffron.

I used Mossy Meadow for the leaves and for the cardstock behind the main piece.

You just press your stamp pad and pick up a little ink with your water painter.   Then paint the raised images on the embossed part until you are satisfied with the look.

Fun Candy Canes

It seems the summer just flies by and here we are again doing our team blog hop!   This time we are featuring products from the mini catalogue.   This catalogue has so many lovely Christmas sets in it I have decided to feature the Sweet Candy Canes Bundle.  To see the fabulous cards of my team you can click on their pictures below.

I loved this set when I first saw it.  I thought it might be hard to use big candy canes but it has been fun to put these cards together.    The main big die is what really made me want this set of dies.    There are good samples and ideas in the catalogue and I got two ideas from that page.

1. Cut a card 5 1/2" by  8 1/2" of Evening Evergreen  and fold in half.
2.   Cut two pieces of Evening Evergreen and cut them with the largest die and adhere them to the front of the card.
3.  Die cut some Soft Succulent greens to go behind, a 1" by 4" piece of Soft Succulent cardstock.  Adhere a 1/2" of Specialty Glimmer Paper.
4.  Stamp the candy canes in Real Red with a Stamparatus to get a really dark colour.
5.   Stamp the sentiment and voila!

This is a similar card only very quick to put together.
1. I cut a piece of Thick Basic White 8 1/2" by 5 1/4 " to make the card and cut a piece of 4" by 5 1/4" with the largest die in Real Red.
2.  I then cut a 4" by 5 1/4" piece of the Sweetest Christmas Designer Series Paper and fit it behind the die cut.
3.  The candy canes are cut from the DSP and so that was easy to add to the card.
4.  I cut a piece of Real Red with the Scalloped Contour Dies but you could easily just cut a rectangle.
5.   I then stamped three mistletoe leaves from the stamp set and added them behind the piece I die cut for the sentiment from the dies in the bundle.

Hope you enjoyed these cards - hop on to team's wonderful cards!
